SOLAR TRANSITION COURSE FOR ELECTRICIANS AND CONTRACTORS

We provide an all-day solar transition course for electricians and contractors who are already providing home construction and renovation services, and want to offer grid-tie solar power systems as an option to their client's projects. This is a very fast-paced and in-depth course designed for those already familiar with building construction techniques and the National Electric Code. We also recommend this course to building inspectors wanting to become more familiar with solar photovoltaic systems and Section 690 of the NEC.

MATERIAL COVERED

This class is not recommended for individuals having little or no prior home wiring experience. You must already have a good understanding of basic electrical circuits and residential wiring to attend this class. Note - Off-grid and battery-based solar power systems are only briefly mentioned in this class, as this material is covered in a separate program.

Introduction to solar power
Review of most common system types
Array mounting issues and shading concerns
Basic array and inverter sizing guidelines
Solar array DC strings, DC fuses, and wire sizing
Solar modules, array combiner boxes, DC dis-connects
Inverter AC wiring and utility inter-connects
System testing, array ground faults, and startup
Hands-on solar hardware demonstrations

COURSE PACKAGE FEE

The course fee is $350.00 per person, and this includes a morning snack and full lunch, plus all handout materials. Additional employees from the same firm or association will be billed a discounted fee of $295.00 per person

CLASS LOCATIONS AND TIMES

We offer this all day class at various times throughout the year, and in different cities across Virginia. Based on the number of requests we receive and the most requested locations and dates we receive, we will try to accommodate these requests whenever possible. We will notify everyone who has registered with us when this class will be offered in their general area.
