SOLAR INTRODUCTION COURSE FOR HOMEOWNERS
This all-day class is offered on many Saturdays during the spring, summer, and fall, and is designed specifically for couples considering adding solar for their existing home or planned new home construction. Sorry, but due to program format, children or other family members cannot be included in this special package price. Classes are not offered every week so advance registration is required.
MATERIAL COVERED
The small class size allows a much more informal lecture presentation that includes video and computer graphics teaching aids. Hands-on use of various solar products representing the most popular solar manufacturers will provide an excellent introduction to solar hardware. Ample time is provided for solar questions specific to each homeowner, who are encouraged to bring photos of their home for discussion. The following topics will be covered in detail:
- Introduction to solar power
- Review of most common solar system types
- Selecting the right inverter and solar modules
- Examples of what others are doing
- Importance of home energy conservation
- Selecting the best location for your solar array
- Solar system economics and installation costs
- Federal tax credits and net metering requirements
- Selecting the right solar contractor
COURSE PACKAGE FEE
The course fee is $350.00 per couple, based on both people from the same household, which includes a morning snack and full lunch, plus all handout materials.
TERMS
A deposit of $150.00 will be billed when you reserve your class date, with balance due day of class. The deposit will be forfeited if you do not show up on the date your selected, or do not notify us at least 2 weeks prior to scheduled class date that you must cancel. However, we can usually accommodate a change in class date with no penalty with enough advance notice.
TRIP PLANNING INFORMATION
This all-day course will begin promptly at 9 AM and end at 4 PM, with a lunch and tour of a solar home provided at noon. All classes are limited in size, and will be conducted at our office facilities and solar store located halfway between Richmond and Charlottesville Virginia on I-64. Hotel accommodations are available at various hotels located in nearby Zions Crossroads (16 miles west of our offices), or Short Pump (19 miles east of our offices). We will provide more specific contact information with your class registration package. For those coming from distant cities or states, our facilities are located only a short drive from Thomas Jefferson's historic Monticello if you would like to make a mini-vacation out of your weekend visit with us.
